Instructional Hockey Program
(Formerly "Intro to Hockey")

WELCOME! 

We couldn't be more delighted to have you in our Hockey Basics 2 Program!  The Coaching Staff is looking forward to skating with you!  The program will focus on developing and fine-tuning your ice hockey skills, learning more about the fundamentals of the game we love and above everything else - - having FUN! 

Participants MUST:

Have attended a previous Hockey Basic 1 class and been approved by the coach to participate.

Full Ice Hockey equipment to include at a minimum: helmet with cage, shin guards, elbow pads, shoulder pads,                         protective cup and hockey gloves

Offered only at The Cary Ice House

The Program Format is as follows:

• Warm-Ups and Stretching

• Hockey Skills Instructional Time (see lessons below)

• Full Ice "Coach-Controlled" Hockey Scrimmage

Weekly Lesson Plans - Focus on Hockey Skills

• Forward Skating / Balance, Starts and Stopping

• Backwards Skating and Stopping, Turns / Crossovers / Transitions

• Stick handling / Puck Control

• Passing and Shooting: Wrist, Snap, Backhand, Slap

• One on One Coverage Drills

• Hockey Drills / Skills Review

• Final Hockey Game / Graduation
