The Greensboro Ice House is pleased to present an
exceptionally experienced and talented coaching staff! Our
Figure Skating Director takes pride in matching each
student's needs with the coach's area or areas of
expertise. Private lessons may be scheduled with the
assistance of our Figure Skating Director, Nicole Stalker

Private lesson fees are paid to the Greensboro Ice House
at the front office. Students will receive a lesson ticket
from the
cashier ~ please write the student's name on the ticket and
present it to the instructor at the beginning of each
lesson. Private lesson fees cover instruction only and do
not include freestyle or public session admission or skate
rental. If clients need to cancel a private lesson, please
contact instructors directly. Coaches have individual
policies regarding lesson cancellation - please be aware of
these policies and understand that you may be charged
lessons not taken or canceled without proper notice.
Skaters taking private lessons on freestyle sessions, must
sign in the freestyle session log book located at the front
desk counter and must pay for ice time at the start of each
session skated.
Nicole Stalker is
the Figure Skating Director of the Greensboro Ice House
and she should be contacted with any Learn to Skate or
figure skating questions, compliments or concerns.
Programming under her leadership includes a US Figure
Skating Basic Skills program of Learn to Skate group
lessons, adult courses, pre-school classes, a home
school curriculum, specialty programming for advanced
figure skaters as well as a complete array of off-ice
training opportunities. The Greensboro Ice House is
proud to offer a group class for skaters of all ages and
abilities!
Elizabeth Curtiss has been teaching skating for 18 years
and has coached Junior National competitors. She holds
memberships in the Professional Skaters Association ("PSA")
and United States Figure Skating. She is a Gold and
International Dance test medalist and has passed her
Senior Freedance and Junior Freestyle tests. Elizabeth
is PSA rated in Dance and Moves in the Field. Elizabeth
trained under National coaches. She was a 2000 Senior
Dance National Competitor. She is a 7-time hockey team
member at District
Championships. She specializes in ice dancing, spins,
choreography and hockey to skaters of all ages and
abilities.
Sandra DeChard has been teaching
skating for 6 years. She holds memberships in the
Professional Skaters Association, Ice Skating Institute
and United States Figure Skating. She has been skating
for 20 years and trained under National level coaches at
the University of Delaware as well as in Phoenix, AZ,
Portland, ME and most recently here in Greensboro, NC.
She has passed her Silver Dance, Intermediate Free
Dance, Juvenile Pairs, Intermediate Freestyle, and has
reached the level of Novice Moves. Sandra has competed in a number of competitions
including the U. S. Synchronized Team Skating
Championships. She specializes in teaching freestyle,
ice dancing and group lessons to all ages.
Gene Holmes has been teaching
skating for 8 years. Gene is a member of United States
Figure Skating and is a Gold Medalist in Moves in the
Field and Freestyle. He is also a Regional Competitor
placing 4th in Intermediate Men's final
round. Additionally, Gene has passed Pre-Silver dances
and Juvenile Free dance. Gene specializes in freestyle
and choreography and enjoys working with skaters of all
ages. Gene has just returned from a year touring
the United States with the Universoul Circus, performing
as a principal ice skater.
Jane Hottinger has been teaching
skating for over 30 years. She is a Canadian Figure
Skating Association Double Gold Medalist in Figures and
Freestyle. Jane trained under former Olympians and has
16 Championship titles. She was Canadian Pair Silver
Medalist and Canadian representative to the North
American Skating Team. She specializes in Freestyle and
enjoys working with skaters of all ages and abilities.
Kacha Houf has been teaching
skating for about 2 years. Kacha is a member of United
States Figure Skating and is a Gold Medalist in Moves in
the Field and has passed Novice Freestyle and Pre-Gold
Dance. She was also a Regional Competitor in Ladies and
Synchronized Skating. Kacha specializes in Freestyle
and Moves in the Field and enjoys working with skaters
of all ages and abilities.
Andrea Jarrell has been
teaching skating for six years and is a member of the
Professional Skater's Association, US Figure Skating and
Ice Skating Institute. She holds a Registered Freestyle
Rating with the PSA. She has been skating since 1988 and
has passed her Adult Silver Freestyle, Preliminary
Freestyle, Pre-Juv Moves in the Field and 2 Preliminary
dances. She enjoys teaching skaters of all ages.
Terry McCloskey has been teaching
skating for about 3 years. She holds memberships in the
Professional Skaters Association and United States
Figure Skating. Terry is a double gold Medalist in
Freestyle and Moves in the Field. She trained under
National coach, Denise Williamson, in Charlotte, North
Carolina. Terry was a South Atlantic competitor of 10
years, an Eastern Sectional Competitor for 4 years and
qualified to Junior Nationals twice in pairs, medaling
as a Juvenile. She specializes in teaching freestyle
and Moves in the Field to skaters of all ages and
abilities.

Carl M. Poe received his Masters Degree in exercise
Science in 1991 from Appalachian State University. He
then served as an intern designing strength and
conditioning programs for athletes at the United States
Olympic Training Center. Carl also worked as a Sport
Physiology Research assistant for the USOTC assisting
with physical performance testing and evaluations of
elite athletes. He has designed strength & conditioning
programs and has trained skaters for
the previous fourteen years.
Carl has assisted at the United States Figure Skating
Association (USFSA) elite sports science camps at the
Olympic Training Center, Colorado Springs Colorado,
Junior Nationals, Novice-Senior Nationals, National
Training Camps, and the Regional Training camps.
He serves as a member of the USFSA, USFSA Sports
Medicine Committee, PSA, PSA Sports Science Committee
and the National Strength & Conditioning Association and
conducts seminars and off-ice strength & conditioning
program development for skating programs throughout the
U.S.
Laura Savage has been teaching skating for 10 years.
She holds memberships in the Professional Skaters
Association and United States Figure Skating.
Laura has Special Olympics teaching experience and was a
member of the ISI national championship adult
Synchronized Skating team from 1987-1989. She
enjoys teaching children and adults who are just
beginning skating through low freestyle as well as
coaching hockey basics.
Audrey
Smith has been teaching skating for four years. She is a
member of United States Figure Skating and has passed
Intermediate Moves in the Field and Juvenile Freeskate
levels. She competed locally and regionally through the
Intermediate Ladies level. She is from Hillsborough, NC,
where she skated for over 8 years before coming to
Greensboro for school. She has experience running summer
skate camps and working with lots of kids! Audrey enjoys
coaching freestyle to skaters of all ages and levels
Holly Smoot has been teaching
skating for about 1 year. She holds memberships in the
Professional Skaters Association and United States
Figure Skating. Holly has passed Junior Moves and
Intermediate Freestyle. She has trained with elite
coaches Frank Carroll, Irina Rodnina, Ken Congemi and
Charlene Wong. Holly was a Regional competitor at the
qualifying level and won back to back years of
Intermediate Freestyle at Skaneateles Invitational. She
specializes in Freestyle and Moves in the Field.
Lance Travis, a
Greensboro native has been teaching for 12 years. Lance holds memberships in the Professional
Skaters Association
(PSA BA) and United States Figure Skating. Lance
is a double Gold Medalist in Freestyle and Pairs. He was also a 2 time National Junior Men's Competitor,
the
1993 Junior National Pair Champion and the 1995 Senior
National Pair
Bronze Medalist.
Lance was also first alternate to
the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics in Pairs Figure Skating. He has trained with World and Olympic Coaches Peter
Burrows, Frank Carol, Christa Fassi, Irina Rodnina and
Peter Oppegard. Lance is coach of Regional
Champions, Sectional Medalists and National
Competitors. He specializes in Freestyle, Pairs and
Choreography and enjoys teaching skaters of all ages and
abilities.
Lindsay Tuttle, a Kernersville native, has been skating
for 10 years. She has been teaching skating for 4 years.
She holds membership with the Ice Skating Institute,
United States Figure Skating Association, and the
Professional Skaters Association (“PSA”). Lindsay has
passed the Basic Accreditation Exam (PSA) and the Master
Sports Science Exam (PSA). She has also passed Juvenile
Moves in the Field, Pre-Juvenile Freestyle, the
Preliminary Pair Test, and the Bronze Dance Test (USFSA)
and she is an ISI Gold Level Judge. Lindsay has a B.S.
degree in Exercise Science and she is currently working
on her Master’s Degree in Sports Studies at High Point
University. Lindsay enjoys teaching skaters of all ages
and abilities and specializes in Moves in the Field and
Freestyle.
Originally from
Greensboro, Brad began skating at the age of 9. He has
passed USFSA adult Bronze and Silver freestyle and is
currently working on adult Gold MIF. Brad's mission
as a coach is to cultivate the student's passion for
skating, advance the student's skill by setting
attainable goals while teaching proper technique, and to
guide the student to strong ethical sportsmanship.
Lori Woods has
been coaching at the Greensboro Ice-House since the
summer of 2007. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, and
skating competitively since the age of 5, she is a
former Eastern Great Lakes Regional competitor and a
qualifying Midwestern Sectional competitor at the
Junior level. She has passed her Junior Freestyle, 7Th
Figure, and Bronze Dances. Having 11 years of off-ice
ballet training, Lori emphasizes choreography and
artistic style in her students skating, as well as
proper technique. As a coach, Lori works to help her
students build confidence and self-esteem by setting
attainable goals, and stressing the importance of a
positive attitude in order to reach their full
potential.
